I can’t believe it. Not only has going to an affiliate motivated me and made me push myself more (and this is only the first week), but they got me to do what I thought I would never do.

Count out my almonds. I am now an almond counting zoner. What has the world come to?

Paleo I could always see myself doing, but zoning? Too much effort, too little food.

But this morning I counted out 30 almonds for the day, and I think I died a little inside.

This crap had better work.

I knew this morning it’d been a while since I last looked for a local affiliate. And so, not expecting to find much I googled crossfit and a few surrounding cities, and was shocked to find a link to a gym in Richland on the main Crossfit website! So I go to their blog and see that this morning, THIS morning, they’re doing a free workout in the park. In two hours. Actually, right now it’s about an hour and 15 minutes and I better get ready.

I’ll post later and see how the workout with the folks at Crossfit Fusion are!

Run 1 mile
Two minutes of each:
Row
30 pound Dumbbell thrusters (mod: 20 lb)
20 pound Medicine ball cleans(mod: 18 lb)
Double-unders (mod: tuck jumps)
Pull-ups (mod: 52lb assistance)

Post total time and total reps plus calories (from row) to comments.

Total score was 116, the mile was 9:54. Pretty sore, but I’m getting used to running on my toes, trying to learn pose-style running. My calves are sore!

Hopefully I’ll be able to make it to karate tonight, we’ll see. Hopefully I’ll be able to walk tonight!

First things first, I got my first dips! I can only do them one at a time, and I only can go to parallel with the bar, but soon I’ll be doing them deeper. Yay!

And I finally timed my Fran. I’ve done it 3-4 times, but for some reason or other my stopwatch would stop, reset, or something wacky. That seems to happen a lot with Cindy too. So, my modified Fran:

Then, inspired by the “10 things that will get you kicked out of your gym,” I did 2 minute max box jumping, 2 rounds. First attempt was 52, second was 65 on a 12 inch box. Next time I’m grabbing the 24, because I was NOT asked to leave. =) I must have a good gym. One lady did comment, “I’m getting tired watching that!” right around the 1:45 mark.

I can tell I got a good workout today because I cannot type for the life of me. I’m making around 2 typos per sentence, thank goodness for Firefox’s auto spell-check!

Jumping back in

Yikes, finals have a way of throwing everything off. I’ve been working out sporadically, but definitely need to get back to posting here. I’ve improved a couple of lifts while I was away, most notably the bench press. Like most crossfitters I don’t bench that often. Last year my New Year Resolution was to bench over 100lbs — which I did accomplish! Last Saturday I benched 100 for two sets of five! After that I wanted to see what my max was, and I managed one rep of 115. I’m going to try again this Saturday after I’m more rested, I’m pretty sure 125 or so is pretty close.

2 laps around a 400 meter track. I’m going to start a running phase of training, 1 track day, one tempo run, one long run a week, with 3 day on, one day off Crossfit. Monday/Wednesday/Friday should be right for running.

New Years Goal Reached!

I can do pull-ups! Ok, I can do one pull up, with a day of rest between attempts. Generally I can get 5 singles. Now I’m shooting for 2 consecutive pull-ups by the end of summer. w00t!

5k, and goals

I just finished a 5k run, 32:40, veeery slow. =\   I’m running a 5k this Saturday, another next month and another two months after that one. I want to see how much I can improve between each race. =3 My goal is to run one in the 25 minute run.

I wondered why this workout is nicknamed “the Three Bars of Death,” but quickly found out why. Ouch! I actually tore a callous on my hand for the first time in probably 6 years, since I quit gymnastics. Wow. I think sets 7,6, and 5 were the hardest.

Linda – 10 – 9 – 8 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 reps of the triplet:

Deadlift: 135 lbs

Bench Press: 85 lbs

Clean: 50 lbs

Not too bad, I think. I’m just glad I managed to finish.
